Program Structure
The course is divided into three progressive modules that will help you master the repertoire, understand the body in motion, and design dynamic, safe classes.


Reformer Pilates
Certification
The Reformer, created by Joseph Pilates, is the heart of the studio a versatile tool that transforms the practice. This program prepares you to teach with confidence, discernment, and creativity, integrating technical repertoire, adaptations for special populations, and advanced progressions.
Requirements to Complete Certification
To become a fully certified Reformer Instructor through The Pilates School, students must complete the following requirements:

Movement Principles – 16 hours

Reformer 1 – Course and exam (16 hours)

Reformer 2 – Course and exam (16 hours)
-
Reformer 3 – Course and exam (16 hours)

Anatomy – Either The Pilates School’s Anatomy course or an equivalent from another institution (must be completed before the final exam)

Practice Requirements:

30 personal Reformer sessions

30 hours of observation
-
90 hours of student teaching
-

Final Exam – Written and practical
Total Program Hours: 214 hours (Anatomy course not included in total hours)
Upon successful completion of all requirements, students will receive a Certificate of Completion as a Reformer Instructor from The Pilates School.
Reformer 2
Intermediate / Advanced Level
16 Hours
This module expands the repertoire with more challenging exercises and safety protocols. You will learn to design classes for specific populations such as pregnancy, osteoporosis, and lower back pain, as well as to assess and correct dysfunctional movement patterns.

Advanced exercises and strategic programming
16 Hours

This module represents the highest level of Reformer training. You will learn progressive sequences to challenge your students and design safe, effective multi-level classes, integrating advanced skills in observation, cueing, and class planning.

Completion of Reformer 1 and 2, or equivalent training

Reformer 1
Fundamentals and Beginner / Intermediate Level
16 Hours
This module introduces the Reformer as a central tool of the Pilates method. You will learn to use it safely, teach beginner and intermediate exercises, and apply modifications based on each student’s profile. Pedagogical reasoning skills are developed from day one.
